Weddings are beginning to have a whole new take on the theme of hearts and flowers.

In West Linn, Oregon newlyweds John Elledge and Whitney Alexander elected to have a cannabis bar at their wedding. It was a high-class affair, complete with a tent designated for toking it up and a budtender serving up the bowls. The wedding planner and couple made sure the festivities were within the legal limits, keeping the amount of cannabis at the event under eight ounces.

The couple divided the cannabis into 13 varieties, and ensured the safety of their guests via the budtender controlling the consumption and providing transportation to the pot partakers.

Elledge is a professional cannabis grower in Oregon, where medical marijuana has been legal since 1998 and recreational use of the plant was officially kicked off in legal fashion on July 1st of this year. As reported in USA Today, Elledge said, “Even an 81 year-old woman who hadn’t smoked weed since the ’60s came into the tent at our wedding. Though skeptical at first, she ended up loving it.”

The couple hired a wedding planner from Bridal Bliss in Lake Oswego, Oregon. While it was the first request for a weed bar that the company had received, one can imagine that this will be a growing trend.

Have a weeding. Stay DOPE.
