WSU Weed Strain Hits Washington Recreational Weed Stores

It was only a matter of time before WSU joined the weed strain name game. Short for the state college Washington State University, the strain is Washington-cultivated and a rendition of the powerful indica strain typically known as Chemo.

This strain is not to be confused with the longtime Evergreen State classic UW, which is named after the University of Washington. Rumor has it that the genetics date back to a 1990s research lab heist on the UW campus in which a clone was stolen. The WSU strain is named after the school, with no official affiliations attached.

The relationship between the University of Washington and Washington State University is a longtime and bitter rivalry. Here, the Huskies and the Cougars battle it out with the most notable confrontation being the annual football game known as the the Apple Cup.

Both cannabis strains are indica dominant. UW has been a longtime staple of Washington’s medical marijuana scene, whereas WSU appears to be a newfound recreational gem. While only limited reviews of WSU are available, these indicate that the strain features fruity flavors alongside rather relaxing effects. UW is known for displaying its school pride via very noticeable purple hues, with significant pain-reliving and sedating effects.

Let’s hope we see the Apple Cup further fueled by this newfound fire of UW versus WSU. Though trading in the booze for some top shelf indicas might result in more handshakes than fist fights when the big game is over.

Win-Win. Stay DOPE.
